THE BRICKYARD SANTA BARBARA, CA You NEED the Ocean's 11 Guidebook.  Reminds me of the awesome sandstone of the southeast (HP 40, Rocktown, LRC, Citadel, Hospital Boulders, Shadescrest, and etc). The sandstone of the west coast is impeccable. It seems like an older and dryer rock with finer grains like Fontainbleau.  If you've been to Castle Rock, the Brickyard is similar in grain size but more like Joe's Valley in hold variability. The Brickyard is about 3/4 the size of HP 40.  There is another area called Lizard's Mouth that is the same size of HP40 and is only 2 minutes away on the same road but different pull-out.    That means a ton of frickin' climbing. The summer temperatures weren't too untolerable, but the sandflies were a real drag.    I've been told autumn is the perfect time without the little bastards.
